B1 file grows like crazy

I'm on Vantage 8.03.409C on Progress database. Our d1 file is about 25 GB right now. We have been having a problem where the B1 file grows to 25-30 GB sometimes. We will truncate it, and it will stay small for a while, and then suddenly shoot up in size again. Epicor was not much help when we opened a ticket with them on this. Does anybody have any ideas what might cause this?
