we have created a job manually; added the Operation and Added the Material. Once we do that we need to manually update the scheduling resource to the correct resource and update the Material from location to the correct warehouse. We had one material not set correctly on the from warehouse but it still pulled from the correct warehouse. We have another job that is set up the same way with almost the same material and it pulled from the WRONG warehouse. I am not sure how to explain or show this. I am confused why one worked and one did not??
Epicor will backflush or die trying. It will iterate through a series of locations to find quantity to issue. As I understand it this is the logic:
- Input warehouse/bin of the Resource used to report labor to the job operation and if the available quantity on hand is greater than zero.
- Input warehouse/bin of the Resource Group used to report labor to the job operation and if the available quantity on hand is greater than zero.
- Uses the backflush warehouse/bin of the Resource used to report labor to the job operation.
- Uses the backflush warehouse/bin of the Resource Group used to report labor to the job operation.
- Uses the Primary Bin defined in the primary bin field located in Warehouse Maintenance for the associated job material warehouse regardless of the unit of measure for the component part being backflushed.
- Uses a Part Bin associated to the job material warehouse using the same tracking UOM for the component part being backflushed and if the available quantity on hand is greater than zero.
- Uses the First Bin in the job material warehouse that has an available quantity, regardless of unit of measure.
- Do not backflush material.
I saw this from another post. We have a warehouse set up on the resource set up on the job so it should have used that. The backflush on the resource is set to the correct warehouse too. Why would it not? I understand if I didn’t have that set it would have pulled from the Primary Bin.
Are you reporting quantity for the job operation in MES? Backflushing uses the resource selected when reporting quantity, not the scheduling resource on the job.
Do you mean when I select the Resource when I start a job in MES? Yes we are selecting the correct one. Only one part on the job pulled from the wrong warehouse and there were parts on hand.
This needs to be framed. I may use this from now on.
