We are backing up the database with progress backup utility 5 times a day.
In order for ProBackup to work the database should be running. The tape is
backing up the .1 file right after the noon backup of ProBackup and the
entire hard drive contents at midnight. It is not a good idea to backup the
live database with a tape backup.
We already had a problem with our database where I had to discard it and
restore it with help of the previous night's tape backup of .1 file and
afterwards using the ProRest utility. This way we lost only the last 30 min.
of the work day. We had to reenter a couple of SO and a few Packing Slips.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
