Thanks for everyone's input.

I did want to let everyone know that this is a known bug and is on SCR
42390. I did end up taking the advise to setup the Change Log for the
Created Date and pull it into my query. This is working. But, bucause
of the bug I can't see past history (shame).

Thanks again.

Jeff
Vantage 8.03.305L

I am trying to pull the "CreateDate" and "CreatedBy" data, from
the "JobHead", into a query. I have even went as far as to create a
query with just the "JobHead" to make sure I am not missing something.

The problem is that I do not receive data for every Job. I cannot find
any consistency (was it created from the Planning Workbench... was it
created from Job Entry... was it a Job Split).

I hope somebody can let me know what I am missing.

Jeff
We are experiencing the same thing. I have not been able to identify
exactly when it works and when it isn't. We seem to have one user that
this is consistently happening with. This same user happens to be the
one that gets locked up in vantage the most as well. By the way we are
on 404B. When we first switched over we said it was because the jobs for
brought over in the upgrade from 6.10 to 8.03.400 and that they
eventually would all have data. As we have gone along we still have
empty fields.

JobHead.CreateDate was a new field as of 8.03. If you go to help and
search "New Fields in 8.03" you will see all the new fields they added
to the database (including the one you are querying on).

Thanks

After saying I have not been able to find any consistency, I believe I
just hit it. It appears that when creating a Job from "Job Manager"
the "CreateDate" and "CreatedBy" populate and can then be pulled into
my query.

Patty, I see the reference you speak of, but is there a reason that
this wouldn't work across the board?

If anyone sees any other scenario the generates this data I would ask
you to post it here. I am just about out of ideas.

Thanks... Jeff
We also pull in the LastPrintedDate and use that date if there is no
Creation Date. This obviously does not work if you print a Job Traveler
more than once. We usually only print them once.

Jeff

Jeff,

Even if you have lots of imported jobhead records with null values in these fields, it makes no sense they still wouldn't be returned by your BAQ.

What kind of conditional filtering are you applying (if any)?

Also, you DID say this was a single table dump (no joins) - Yes?

I recall 305 being a little flaky re BAQs but not to the degree you describe. I still have dozens of JobHead related BAQs developed when piloting on 305 that still work and get used daily on 405a.

All I can think of is that your imported records might have null values in one of the primary key fields.

If you have odbc, try doing a SQL query (no criteria) and see if you get all records... You might see something your missing.

Good luck.

Thanks Rob.

Yes, I did create a query of just the "JobHead" (no conditions and no

In this "JobHead" exclusive query I am displaying only the Job
Number, Created By and Created Date fields. It produced 650 Jobs,
which matches the test database I am working in. And, 123 of the 650
have the Created By and Created Date information. I can't confirm
how these were created, but as I mentioned in a earlier post, the
only way I can get this information to populate is via Job Manager.

Have you tried using the "chglog" table? If all you are looking for is the job, the date the job is created, and who created it, this info may be found within this table.

Jeff,

I can't attest for Planning WB (we don't use it - doesn't fit in with our process needs) but Job Entry and Order Entry's Order Job Wizard absolutely should populate the Create Date field in the same way Job Manager does.

Have you customized any of the job creation capable apps? It is possible to create customizations that screw up the native data write processing. (Shouldn't be - but it is.)

Wish I could have helped more.
