Charlie,

In Crystal Reports, you have the option under File...Save or Save with
report data...

I got it straitened out the first response was right it was pulling the
data
saved in the report when I opened it locally. But when I went somewhere
else
it tried to find a new dataset that wasn't in the same local. Also the
dataset I used to design the report wasn't right. The "sample data" I
used I
pulled from a dashboard I had to pull another set of sample data from
the
BAQ itself and redo the majority of the report all is working now.

This is the first BAQ to crystal I have done so I'm figuring it out as I

Crystal opening a ODBC into the DB for it's data vantage kicks out a

Subject: [Vantage] BAQ Crystal Report Problem

All,

I have created a nice little report for our QA department that prints up
to
nice Corrective actions forms. But I have a problem when I run the
report
when I am remoted into the server it works perfectly but if I run it
from
any other machine it ask me to specify the location of the dataset and
enter
a username and password. Now my guess would be that crystal is getting
passed the location of the dataset (.xml file) in this format
c:\epicor\mfgsysdat a\reports\ username\ ****.xml instead of like this
\\servername\ epicor\mfgsysdat a\reports\ username\ ****.xml. The only
problem
is I can't figure out where the setting is to adjust this. Any ideas?

PS all of the "canned" BAQ to Crystal reports are working for us just
not
this one I have made.

That is stored in the system agent. In the SystemAppServer section,
Client File specifies the unc path to the print directory. it should be in UNC format.
Â
If you had it wrong then it should not work for the other reports also.
I would check to be sure it is in unc format but I do not think that is the problem.
Â
Asking for the user name and password sounds like a permission problem with the file or folder.
Â
Have you made sure that the data is not being saved with the Crystal Report? This is another long shot but does happen sometimes.

Charlie,

In Crystal Reports, you have the option under File...Save or Save with
report data...

You said that right Charlie, its probably by sheer luck then that it
hasn't happened to me as it is force of habit to not save data in the
reports... it would have had me stumped, and I run reports remotely
quite often.

I'm on 8.03.407.

Epricor has them all over the place. Quotes, invoices, AP checks, and
several other places. It's going on in the background. Instead of the
Crystal opening a ODBC into the DB for it's data vantage kicks out a
...XML
file that is then read by the crystal report.

The only
