# BAQ not updating BuyIt

I am getting an error when I try to update the BuyIt field (I’m trying to uncheck the box):

Severity: Exception, Table: JobMtl, Field: , RowID: eac81fba-9015-4ac9-b74b-ec3b7fb5fe91, Text: Update of JobMtl not allowed.

I get no errors when check syntax. I get the list like I should. When I select a row to update, that works ok. I uncheck the dspBuyIt field, hit ok. The box becomes unchecked in the grid as it should. When I hit update, I get the error and upon refresh, the data reverts to the previous settings. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Depending on settings in your company configuration, you may have to un-Engineer the job before you can make any changes.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Next troubleshooting step for me would be, can you do it manually through the UI without a similar error? Or is the checkbox actually greyed out?

add a trace when you do, there might be another BO that is setting the field, not the Update.

I’m sorry, I’m new to this. How would I add a trace? What do you mean by BO? Thank you.
