FYI

We have been using V4 DC with TT5's for around a year now, initially lots of
tears but the only errors now are user generated.

We are using some Welch-Allyn ImageTeam 3800 scanners (ray gun type) in-line
with our PC keyboards on shop floor. No software or other hardware
required. Just plug it in and it reads bar codes on Job Traveler, etc...
just like keystrokes. Scanner plus cable ran about $340 ea. The new
scanners are far better than the old Comp-See light pens we used with
Classic on the AS/400 because they are non-contact. Since we opted to do
data collection via PCs I can't speak for the TT5 versus terminal server
angle but we have been happy with the cost/performace of 10 cheap PCs and
the W-A scanners. It's been awhile but I believe our decision to not use
TT5s was for overall cost reasons.

readers to dumb terminals and use the Terminal Server software to tie
them all together using a separate server?

far as I have been able to tell, there are fewer than five customers using
this solution which means that you get little to NO attention from the
developers. We have on-going issues with this product; one thing or another
has been wrong with the product since we implemented Vantage almost two
years ago. We are in the process of DUMPING it now in favor of Caesar
Development's Data Collection module, which has many features that Epicor's
product is missing.
