Barcode operation scanning not working

We have had the same problem - and tried changing that line in the
mfgsys file with no luck. It has something to do with the type of
field it is. If you can program your scanner to clear the field
first - then scan you will be all set. I can't find manuals for our
scanners - (Symbol LS-1006-1000) as they are out of production and no
longer supported.

Have a great day!

We just started using the operation barcode to speed up scanning of
travelers, but for some reason the each time a user scans an
operation, it adds a 0 (zero) to the end of the scan, making operation
10 operation 100 or operation 20 operation 200.

Please help.

You might be helped by changing a line in the default.mfgsys config file...
<SelectTextOnEnter value="True" bool="" />

The basic problem is that the Operation combo box is "helpfully suggesting" an operation based on the character you enter.
Do it by keyboard, you see as soon as you type "1", if there's an op 10, the "0" is then filled in.
If operation 10 is complete, it will suggest 100 as soon as you type the 1.
I can't see a way to turn it off because the Combo box is a class, and I'm an ERP Manager, not a programmer.

so I apologize that I don't have a suggestion to help you, but to let you know you're not alone.
I guess Epicor never actually printed the barcoded traveler and actually tried to scan an operation with focus on one of their special Job Operation combo boxes.

I've seen this (annoying) combo box 'help' of trying to predict and auto-complete what you are entering (based on the 1st character or two) if full license apps but never in MES and HandHeld apps driven by scanning.

It might be worth doing a registry scan to see if this auto-complete feature is controlled at that level (and can be turned off).

It is also possible you could disable auto-complete for the control with code using some potentially available extended.properties syntax in a subroutine.

Worst case (if you are ALWAYS scanning), you could hide the native combo control and replace it with a text box control tied to the same table field.

I also recall there is a property box (don't recall which one) when viewing a control's details in customization mode where you can specify search criteria.

Example: A past 403 version allowed an unapproved Part Rev to be defaulted as the Rev when entering the part number for a new PO line. The temp fix I stumbled upon was to enter something like PartRev.Approved=True in this property field and it limited selection to only Approved Revs.

With a little experimentation, you might be able to define a criteria in this control property box that thwarts the auto-complete yet still allows scanned entry.

(I wouldn't waste too much time on that though... I'd probably just replace the control with a text box for scanning - changing the Tab sequence as needed - and perhaps ALSO leave the native combo box visible for use when doing keyboard/mouse entry.)
