Barcode scanners help

I believe if you scan it while in 'out of range' mode, it will save the
data and retransmit it when it is back in range. Or try using 'batch
mode'. I have noticed that walls and obstruction will limit your range
too. But I'm sure you're looking for something more in the line of
hand-held models.

Subject: [Vantage] Barcode scanners help

Hi,

I hope that someone is able to help with a bit of advice on barcode
scanners.
We currently use symbol barcode scanners model ls4278.
I currently have a custom vantage screen that the user opens up and then
scans a barcode from picking documentation(sales order number). They
then go and pick each of the products and scan the bin number for the
quantity that they need and then scan the sales order number again on
the paperwork and this tells the application that this order is
complete.
The problem is we are now expanding the size of this and have got a new
room built to use for this. It's about 30x30 meters. Our current
scanners do not have the range. I think they have a range of about 15
meters(if your lucky).
I don't know if anyone is doing something similar. I have been looking
at scanners that can record what the user scans and can sync to a PC
when connected to a base station but any ideas are welcome as well as
any details on scanner models that people are currently using and what
they think.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Ross

sounds to me like you could use the hand held module and something like an intermec ck3. The module has some short falls, but it shoulds like for what your doing it would work for you. With the hand held module you would be processing at the bin and not going back to a computer.
