Barcoding / Crystal Reports and Vantage

I am using the DBF files. I did go and "Set Location" and "Verify
Database" to no avail and changed all fields to text and used the &
again - it works (for now). Thanks for your help. Jill

what is really in there. Another quirk with the DBF files is the
file location. If the Crystal report is looking at one place but
Vantage is writing to another the what is done in development can
work while in Vantage it won't. Do a "Set Location" and "Verify
Database" in development just ot be sure it is looking at the
location Vantage is using to store the DBF file.

I have added a barcode to our traveler that equals *jobnoAssynoOprno*
originally I used the '&' rather than the '+' symbol. The scanner read
the formula with the '&' great. When I printed traveler out of crystal
reports it worked great, then when we tried to print from vantage we
receive an error 515. Vantage knowledge base says that this error
indicates that there is an error in a formula in the report, so I tried
using the '+' instead of the '&', then we were able to print this from
vantage but the barcode scanner could not read it.

Does anyone have any ideas? We have a project going live on Monday and
this will surely bring it to a screeching halt.

Appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,

Jill
When you say "printed from Crystal it worked great" how was this printed from Crystal? Was it using DBF files previously created from within Vantage or via ODBC? The DBF files are notorious for changing the data type on numeric fields to character. If you are using the DBF files try opening them with a spreadsheet (like Excel) and see what is really in there. Another quirk with the DBF files is the file location. If the Crystal report is looking at one place but Vantage is writing to another the what is done in development can work while in Vantage it won't. Do a "Set Location" and "Verify Database" in development just ot be sure it is looking at the location Vantage is using to store the DBF file.

But the & versus + sounds like some confusion in the formula as to data type and you might need to force certain fields to be strings to use &.

At least these are the first places I would be looking.
