BarTender 7.75, part numbers and a brick wall

If your maintenance is up to date on bartender with epicor I would strongly encourage you to get the latest version. We have part numbers that are between 25 - 40 characters long.

Subject: [Vantage] BarTender 7.75, part numbers and a brick wall

So, after six years of clear sailing printing barcode labels using ODBC,
Vantage 8.03 and BarTender, I have been presented with a problem that
has me stopped dead.

Our part numbers are of various lengths (999-9999, 999-99999,
999-9999-99999) and everything seemed to work great until someone got
the bright idea to make a part number like this 999-999-AA999. I get a
call from receiving and they can't print a barcode for that part. The
label comes out fine, but the barcode is missing. Upon further
investigation I determine that the barcode isn't printing because it is
too long. It is too long because the barcode when scanned is
999-9999-+A+A999.

And you know the best part? The human readable text has no +'s.

After an entire morning trying to eliminate the +'s, I am at my friend
the brick wall.

Anyone ever seen this? More importantly, anyone ever successfully make
the +'s disappear?

Thanks,

Doug
