Tony's question reminded me of our continuing melodrama here.
We have a catalog product line, but we produce many custom and special jobs
as well.
By percent of sales, how much shelf inventory do other manufacturers keep on
hand?
Our sales are approximately 5 million/year and we have about 450,000 on the
shelf (manufactured and purchased combined) - or a little under 10%.
When we fall too low, it's heck on overtime and lead times suffer. Too
high, and top management gets upset about all the cash on the shelf.
Any input from ya'll is highly appreciated.
