BOM importing

Rhonda,

Do you have set your default Plant and default Warehouse in your company
maintenance?
Parts in your import file do NOT need to exist. Unknown parts will be
added to the part-table. PartPlant records will be added automatically.
The only 'problem' is that you have to update almost ALL the fields of
the new added parts afterwards, even the U/Ms!

I was checking out the importing of BOM's from a text file in 5.2. I read
that if the part number is not in the master file it will created it. I get
to the import and get an error message "a valid Warehouse is required" and
it doesn't create the part to import into the BOM. Anyone know what I need
to do to get this done.

I imported to 5.2.
First, I imported the "Part" file, then the BOM files. It sounds like the error you are getting is from the "Part Plant" file,
and you have to make sure the "warehouse" you specified in that file is valid. I am pretty sure that the "Part" has to
exist before you import BOM info related to it, which may have given you that error as well.

I did the imports recently, so it's pretty fresh in my mind, so if you need help let me know.
