it will cause that location to go negative. From the customer shipment entry. This seems like a good BPM application. Which method, Validateshipped or Update? Designed query or advanced? Im fairly certain its preprocess. Im a little stuck on getting this to work.
IÂ’m confused are you asking if a BPM can be created that will disallow you
to ship more parts than you have in inventory?

I thought that you couldnÂ’t shit more from inventory than you have in
inventory.

Shipping off a job is a different story though.

That is correct. We are experiencing a timing issue of recieving parts into inventory i.e. mfg-stk before shipping actually generates a stk-cus transaction. this causes huge inaccuracies in inventory value. So, im thinking raise an exception if the ourinventoryshipped qty is greater than the onhand qty of the location being shipped from. just not sure how to get it to work.

But I have done one that stops you from shipping more off a job than the job
has completed.

You will want to put it on the Update method. The tricky part is that when
you ship from inventory the qty adjustment doesn't take place tell you reach
a certain point in creating / finishing the customer shipment. So you will
need to find customer shipments that have not reached this point and apply
those qtys to your number as well.

That would be greatly appreciated. There is a system switch that allows or disallows negative inventory transactions. This does not discriminate between things like backflushing and or shipping transactions. We do allow backflushing a location negative (this is a simple matter of inventory transfer in most cases). It is shipments that exceed the onhand quantity from inventory that we are trying to prevent. Weve been live for a year and it is more than happy to let us drive locations negative from customer shipments that are not made direct. However I do have to tackle the ship from job issue you mentioned as well. Thanks for your help! We do typically use packout, not sure if this enters a new spin or not...

I wrote this package like 3 months ago at this point and I have slept
between now and then but I believe what mine does is takes the # completed
subtracts the number already shipped and then compares it to the correct
field on that form. What version are you running on currently?

I'm only on 6.1, but there you can restrict it by part class - you can
warn, stop or take no action.

it will cause that location to go negative. From the customer shipment
entry. This seems like a good BPM application. Which method,
Validateshipped or Update? Designed query or advanced? Im fairly certain
its preprocess. Im a little stuck on getting this to work.

I wrote this package like 3 months ago at this point and I have slept
between now and then but I believe what mine does is takes the # completed
subtracts the number already shipped and then compares it to the correct
field on that form. What version are you running on currently?

That would be greatly appreciated. There is a system switch that allows or
disallows negative inventory transactions. This does not discriminate
between things like backflushing and or shipping transactions. We do allow
backflushing a location negative (this is a simple matter of inventory
transfer in most cases). It is shipments that exceed the onhand quantity
from inventory that we are trying to prevent. Weve been live for a year and
it is more than happy to let us drive locations negative from customer
shipments that are not made direct. However I do have to tackle the ship
from job issue you mentioned as well. Thanks for your help! We do typically
use packout, not sure if this enters a new spin or not...

Thanks Charlie Ill rip into this right away. I just completed Epicor's BPM class so this is all starting to make alot more sense to me. I think my biggest stumbling block may have been that we use pack out and that the query i was using wasnt finding any rows because the data was contained in the packout dataset not the shipdtl dataset. Still diggin around to see where i can get around that. Ive done a few SC workflows, bunches of vb.net customizations, bam's, autoprinting etc...If i can ever be of any help let me know.
