Business Activity Query language

I asked a programmer friend of mine who did some programming for v8.
She said it had been a while since she had worked with the BAQ bbut
her recollection was it was Progress. - Monte

Does anyone know how to join multiple tables using the Business
Activity Query? If I use the Query wizard it doesn't seem to work.

I want to join tables like Company.Company, OrderHed.Company,
ShipHead.Company, ProdGrup.Company, OrderRel.Company with filters
using OrderRel.ReqDate and ProdGrup.Description.
After using the Query wizard, and I Analyze the Statement it says it
is ok, but when I run it, it is not recognizing the filters and pulls
in thousands of records. I am thinking that I need to know the correct
language to 'inner join' the tables. This is not in the Vantage help
menu. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You link table in the BAQ in the second screen of the Phrase Builder.
It auto-links for you but you can modify the linkage if needed - Monte

Thanks Monte, but I know how to link two tables using the second
screen of the Phrase Builder, but when I try and link multiple
tables and I have filters on one of the child tables, it doesn't
filter properly. It runs the report but I have never been able to
see it because it has too many records. I am thinking in the secound
screen that I could modify the language (if I knew what it was) then
I could join multiple tables and have them filter properly.

Hi Debra,

A couple things to look at:

1. You have to make sure that you have selected the correct table on the filter screen in the BAQ where you enter the filtering criteria
2. If you are using a date range you should apply the parantheses around the filter statements
3. Review what the filter looks like in the Query Phrase to make sure what you are expecting is being produced before doing the Analyze > Test.

Call Tech Support if you are still having any issue.
