Bypassing Write Triggers

I think it's best if you let the triggers do their thing. Are you running
this from inside Vantage, or stand alone? In my limited experience, if you
run from within Vantage (launch the Procedure Editor from the Vantage Basic
Command Window) then it will inherit all the global variables, paths and
environment settings it needs to run.

For stand alone to work with triggers, you'll need to set some global
variables (see Mike P's page that he posted earlier -- CUR-COMP at least)
and probably add stuff to the ProPath.

If you ~really~ want to bypass them, then a line of code like:
on write of PartTran override do: end.
should do it.

I know, I know...shouldn't even be thinking about this but...

To correct a problem with our database I have written a little Update Browse for
a specific table so that I can update two data fields. However, I am running up
against the "can not find X:\vantage\db\trg\xxxx\write.r" error message. I know
this was mentioned about a year ago but couldn't find the solution in the
Archives.

Anyone out there in Vantage land know how to do this?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, our problem is related to incorrect Fiscal Year and Periods entered for two
months worth of GL detail and AR/AP records. I need to manually change these so
that I can modify the Fiscal Period maintenance to correct a problem referenced
earlier in the week.

You might try this:

http://scary.sytes.net:666/vantage-tips-n-tricks.htm#2

It worked for me back in Vantage 3.0 and 4.0, haven't tried it against 5.0+
yet.

Just be very cautious when dealing with this. Test it on a test box first.
