Can I change part name?

Thanks Joshua,

I was thinking if I will get any positive response for BAQ but I think except creating new parts there is no hope :-(

Hi friends,

one of my colleague created some weird part numbers which contains special symbols like # and " . The problem is barcode generator does not generate barcodes for these types of symbols. So scanner can not scan the parts because barcode has special symbols as it as.

So the barcode has barcodes for numbers and special symbols remain as it is. Each time when we create transfer order from Transfer Order Entry we have to enter these parts manually otherwise we use scanner for scanning part numbers.

Does somebody any idea how I can change these part numbers & remove symbols from them ?

Eg of part number : AAA#2111 22" - 23"-P

Barcodes shows bars for alphabets n numbers but # and " remain as it is ......

Thanks
Kiran
I would create a new part number then adjust the old ones out and brink the
new ones in through Qty Adjustment.

There is no real way to do it. PartNum is spread all over epicor like
white on rice it would be very very hard to do it and to do it right.

The Epicor BOs wouldn't let you even do that I don't think. I would hope
at least. Changing a part number is some sticky business you pretty much
can only back them out and create new ones.

You could (and I warn this is a terrible idea) conceivably run SQL queries
on every table with PartNum and replace the bad part with the good part.
There is a Data Dictionary field cross reference in the files section that
has every table X field is in.
