Can this be done?

Mike,

You can also set it up as an Test database on the same server. Vantage has
some instructions in a word doc they will send to you.

We would like to take a copy of our vantage database and put it on another
computer not as a live copy just as an up to date copy within a weeks span.
We would like to make reports off of this that wouldn't be exactly acurate
but would give us general info. If this is possible please tell me how to
do it

Thank You

Mike,

I do it all the time. I use the real vantage program on two servers, one is
'live' data and one is the training database. Nothing against it but the
training setup for vantage isnt that great so I use the program itself and
week old data to train new employees. If you install it on a separate
server you can easily copy over the /db directory and run the prostrct
utility and you are set. If you have any question further please let me
know, I do it regularly and can explain in more detail if needed.

We purchased a stand alone copy from Epicor. When we want to install data on it, we use the restore comand and restore a copy of the backup file. I don't know the cost, but it has been a huge benefit for us to use real date to do modeling, testing, etc. We also use
it on a laptop for customer service. That way the on call person has the most recent data, shipping info, stock status and location, etc. outside working hours.

Best regards,
Carol

Go through an entire installation on the second server. Do a probkup on the
original server. Copy this back(ed)up file to the second box and use the
prorestore. Any questions, call me.
