This may be far from what you want to achieve, but how about entering
the lot number when entering the receipt. Past and present experience
tells me that using the vendor lot/heat number may be a better bet than
a random number. This gives superb tracking and lot control, not only
in-house, but also back to your supplier if there is ever a material
issue. Upon receipt you can print tickets or little labels using a
Dymo printer. This ticket/label can include Vantage fields...Part
Number, Part Description, Weight/Qty, and Lot Number. Hope this helps!
