We are working on getting scheduling working for us, and we have a lot of very late jobs (it’s just being more realistic now). MRP is suggesting new jobs (and associated POs) to meet the demand. We run Make to Stock.
We’re considering a customization that will result in unfirm jobs generated by MRP that are NOT engineered. We don’t want PO suggestions until we’ve manually reviewed and firmed them up. It will create a delay in purchasing (typically 1 day), but currently we’re obfuscated with the extra suggestions and this will help purchasing run more efficiently.
Thank you. But since the unfirm jobs are scheduled, I think we will still get the PO suggestions? Edit: we’d prefer they were not on the schedule, either.
We get PO suggestions still for unfirm jobs. Not sure if that’s a setting somewhere. Does un-engineering prevent PO suggestions?
@jfajen You may want to look into the planning fence and reschedule deltas… They are designed to help reduce noise from suggestions for things that are not realistic. For example, don’t tell us to move a PO unless it’s more than a week away from it’s current due date. Or don’t tell me to change something if it’s due less than 2 weeks from now because our supplier can’t accommodate that short notice… But in general, if you have jobs, you’re generating demand for parts and the system is going to try to ensure you have supply for it. If you do look into those settings, keep in mind there is a hierarchy there… I believe there is a site level default, then there are settings at the part class, and then again at the part/site level.
