Occasionally, when customer service cancels an order, the demand has already been entered and a job created. In some cases, these jobs do not remove the demand, resulting in erroneous data. Is there a report available to identify these jobs? If so, I can proceed with manually deleting the demand and, if possible, the associated job from the system.
Hmm, I’ll be interested in seeing what people say. We handle it manually. Its part of our procedure that when sales wants to close an order line, they notify the production office, who deletes the demand link and then the job. Then they notify sales they are good to close the order/order line.
Procedure is a bit different if work has been started.
As I know there’s no out of the box report that will give you this list, I’m interested in what others suggest.
I think it would be fairly easy to create a dashboard that could be checked daily to show any ‘order related jobs’ where the job is open but the corresponding order is void. Or a BPM that triggers if an order is closed manually (voided) with open related jobs, and shows or sends some kind or alert.
Its an occasional issue for us, and this has prompted me to think its a good candidate to add to our ‘Error Trapping’ reports for Operations.
We don’t have direct links with jobs, however we do have some BPMs in place that will send emails when a sales order or line is voided or deleted. We email to distribution groups rather than individuals to inform those departments and they handle them as needed.
