Can't enter sales tax on an order

The sale exempt code is grabbed from the "ship to". Which means you
will see a tax exempt box for your customer and for each ship to .
You'll want to remove the tax exempt code on the "ship to" if you want
this ship to location to always be charged tax.

If this is a one time sales tax charge, then take look at the order
release- detail tab of your order and see if there's a tax exempt code
there. If there is, remove it, save and refresh the order. You'll then be
able to put in a new tax code.

I am entering an order, and I need to charge sales tax. When I click to enter a new tax code, that option is grayed out. Is there something else I need to change on the order to let me add sales tax?

Did you check the customer? Is there something typed into the Tax Exempt field on the billing screen?
