Ahh, now I understand.
What you are looking for is to change the workgroup to the same as the
domain name "dns" in your example.
That should do it, at least it does for the 98 computer I just changed over
a minute ago.
In case you want the reminder it is right click on network, properties, then
Identification tab, and change the workgroup to the domain name.
That should do it.

The Win98 machines are all marked to share files and printers. They have a
shared folder. They see each other just fine in explorer. My domain is
called DNS. In explorer the Win98 machines show up on the same level of the
tree. From a Win98 machine you have to click "Entire Network" and then
"DNS" to see the Win2000/XP machines. The Win98 machines were originally
set up as a workgroup prior to adding the servers. We changed the login to
WinNT with Domain "DNS" when we added the servers.

The Win2000/XP machines automatically find the domain and show each other
under the "DNS" domain name. I think some remnant of the workgroup still
exists and the newer machines don't find it since they don't belong.

My best guess anyway and I don't have a clue how to change it.

All of my Win2000 servers, PC's and WinXP machines see each other on the
network just fine. My Win98 systems see all of the systems. But, my
Win2000 and WinXP machines don't see the Win98 machines. Why? How do I
change the Win98 machines?

In the network properties on the Win98 machines is ther File/Printer Sharing
(Add-component type service-File/Printer Sharing for MS networks) service
installed? Even if both are unchecked I think it has to be there to
announce the machine. Just a guess.

Share something (folder) on the 98 computer. It should start showing up
then.
