Hello

Check the help menu on part class and part group
HI @Anders
What makes a part a critical component?
What’s the purpose of the tracking? (stock levels?, Safety information?, costings?)
You could add a UD checkbox, or text field linked to a user code,
however, there may be an existing field to use if you can elaborate on the intended function.
Thanks

Hi
The intention with categorising some parts as critical, is being able to track if a breakdown at a customer happens. That way we can see which job, which part, which batch (Supplier) it was from.
Fx if it’s a cylinder from a supplier that has broken down on a machine at one of our customers, then we can quickly narrow down what batch this cylinder was from. Thereby not having to shut down most of our production or look at maybe 100 machines, but instead 10
I was thinking about using Reference Category, though im not sure what this field is linked to or does really
Reference Category would work,
Providing you don’t have anyone enable the checkbox in part revision “Validate Ref Designators”.
If you have a reference category on the part , then enable that validation flag it will start using additional logic in the engineering workbench.
So if you are ever going to use ref designators, maybe don’t use the reference category and go with a UD field linked to user codes.
Thanks
Joe
