There are actually several services in NT 4 that use a password -- and all
of the Progress services as well. Just go down the services list and check
them. Double click the service. If the bottom half of the box("Log On As")
has the radio button clicked on this account, enter and confirm the
password. If you have Backup Exec, it will need the password change for
sure.

Sounds to me that it is possible that the actual service itself is using a
log-on as well. Go to control panel/services, find this service, right
click and click properties. Under the logon tab see if there is an admin
logon that probably has the old password.

Subject: [Vantage] Change Administrator Password
I am the controller for my company and have just been thrust into
the "system administrator" position, after our IT person left. I
have tried numerous times to change the administrator password and
have received the following error evertime I boot up:
Event ID: 7013
Source: Service Control Manager
Description: Logon attempt with current password failed with the
following error - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
We have 4 servers on the network and I changed the Administrator
password on the primary domain controller and the backup domain
controller. We are running NT 4.0 on both of these servers and
Windows 2000 on the other two. I also changed the password for the
Service Administrator, but it does the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
