Changes to Customer Maintenance change historical invoices

Way back when we started with Vantage (1996) this was discussed with our
representative. We were told this saves space in the database because the
customer name, address, etc. is not saved with each invoice, quote, packing
slip, and so on. It also applies to vendors and POs, invoices, and other
places in the system where info is retrieved via an "ID". We learned to
make new customers, vendors or whatever when the info like you mentioned is
important for history sake.

Subject: [Vantage] Changes to Customer Maintenance change historical
invoices

I noticed that if I make changes to the Customer Maintenance Screen, Bill to
screen, or ship to screens, and subsequently try to reprint a historical
invoice that was, for example, posted or paid months before the changes, the
historical invoice would print the current changes. This means the reprint
is not an accurate representation of the historical invoice, which causes me
problems from an internal control and sales tax point of view, among other
reasons. Am I doing something wrong? Epicor says it functions as designed
(well maybe no one ever challenged them on it or realized it before, which I
find hard to believe). How do you deal with this?
