Changing Character Max on Order Line Detail LineDesc

This is related to this post from a few days ago about the change in functionality of x(1000) fields being disabled if they go above 1k Characters, instead of being treated as MAX like they always have been.

I have several order lines with descriptions > 1000 characters, but the field in Order Entry > Order Line Detail isn’t a normal textbox field. It’s grouped with the Part and Rev:

And it doesn’t have the “Advanced” group in it’s properties where I can set the character limit.

Is it possible to change the character limit on this field? Or do I need to add an additional LineDesc as a normal text box?

I think you may be able to override the default via Extended Property Maint. on OrderDtl.LineDesc
