Hi,

We have a situation where we have manufactured an assembly which has
been received into finished stock. We now need to replace a
component in the assembly with another part which as a greater cost.

I am not sure how to do this. If with issue the stock item back to
the job then this brings the whole assembly rather than the
individual components or BOM.

We don't the advance materials module.

Affectively, this what we have.

IN finished Stock , PART 1000, which is the assembly which contains
PART A.

We need to replace PART A with PART B.

I would like to see the transactions of the replacement in vantage
so we can track and the stock is correct. If this not possible , I
think I would need to use some sort adjustment to show the financial
impact.

If anybody could help me out that would be fantastic.

Many thanks
The easiest way to fix this is to create a new job for Part 1000,
but don't use the standard BOM for the part. Add an operation for
the repair activities, and issue Part 1000 and Part B to the job.
If Part A is reusable, you can salvage part A and put it back in
stock.

Now, be aware of your costing method when you do this. Standard
costing will create a variance (not a bad thing). Average costing
will increase a little because the reworked Part 1000 is more
expensive due to the substitution of Part B (not a problem if you
don't keep inventory). Last costing will be more troublesome.

I hope this helps.
