Changing Vantage userforms (Pack Slip ...Etc) with Crystal Odbc

Shirley,

We have replaced many of the canned forms with our own, as we felt
readability was slightly more important than Epicor did!

I haven't used ODBC though - is this really necessary? If all the fields
that you need are available in the .dbf files in the vntgwork folder, use
those, otherwise use ODBC.

If you do need to use ODBC and need to select certain records, then I would
suggest using a parameter to do this. Create a parameter on the PackNum
field, then use the Select Expert to write a record selection formula that
will say "PackNum equals ?parameter_name".

That should do the trick, I think.

I've searched the archives, with no luck. I need to replace the existing
Packing Slip form with one written in ODBC. What I'm looking for is how to
establish with the ODBC form to ONLY print the current record on the screen.
The functions that I've gone through are'nt clear about how this is done. I
certain someone has replaced the canned forms with their own. I would much
appreciate the help.

A while back, there was a discussion about what people are
using for internet monitoring software. Is there anything that
people are using or know of, that will scan all internet traffic for
content and viruses, and is not dependent on having an exchange
server or proxy server at our location? Any type of firewall that
may do this? Any help or insight on this issue would be
greatly appreicated. Thanks in advance for your time.

I think McAfee makes some kind of a network antivirus appliance that plugs
between the router and LAN. Don't know if it will scan for content though.
You could probably find that information on their website.

SonicWall Pro firewall will scan for viruses and site content. Both based
on a subscription service to load patterns and IP addresses. I am not sure
what the service costs. The box was about $2,900.

I hear that Interscan Virus Wall is good for this. I haven't had time to
look into it yet, but you might want to search the web for info on this.

Try Surfcontrol's SuperScout www.surfcontrol.com . I tried Elron and
Surfcontrol. I preferred Surfcontrol's Superscout, but Elron is very good
too.

Are you needing just one or two extra fields, or are you replacing the whole form in major ways?

I have modified existing Userform reports by adding to the canned one with ODBC. I don't have any idea how to grab the data on the screen for a report.

I'm replacing the form in a major way. We are loosing a clerical person who
did an assortment of documents related to shipping, and I've been
"requested" to automate those functions, additionally we have some (major)
customers that demand their paperwork in a special way. IE: All shipments
on one packing list regardless of different P.O.s, and a separate cert
document for each LOT number. I've got a Crystal form using the current dbf
files that will produce a Cert if the appropriate VB forms checkboxes are
checked and the right VB forms edit fields are filled in. But I need to go
further with this. I have a couple of ideas if its not possible to
establish "CURRENT RECORD", a button in the VB forms area of the Packing
Slip header, or a compiled report in the Favorites area. Im just hoping to
use the regular print button in the packing slip.
