Checkbox in Crystal Reports

I'm trying to create a report using data from a UD checkbox field.
When I bring the data over from Vantage into Crystal, the fields comes
up True or False. I want to create the checkbox and either have it
checked or unchecked.

Crystal online help has a formula to do this, which I tried and tested
and no errors were found but when I return to the report, the
checkboxes aren't there.

Any help would be appreciated.
