Client Speed & User Profiles

I have had decent luck with just creating a new user in XP Pro, buy you have
to set everything up from scratch. Outlook setup is basically easy, then
just import the PST file from the other user account's folders. Copy over
the "my documents" and your ready to roll.

Howdy All,

I have a user whose XP system runs Vantage 6.1 very spasticly - speed
wise. Job Entry will come up instantly then the next time it will take 15
to 30 seconds. It's not the "network" which all Epicor docs finger point
at. It is this user's user profile!!! Also, the Vantage logon takes a long
time for this user, but not for the other user profile.

If I log into the same system as a different user - Vantage flies. If I
use a different pc, but logon as the troubled user - Vantage flies.

Does anyone have any pointers for backing up a user profile - removing the
profile from the system - recreating the user - then restoring items from
the backup ?? How about a User Profile defragmenter ;-) ???

I worked with Copying Profiles and found the entire "Local Settings"
'hidden folder' and subs did not get copied - this of course has the users
Outlook PST files along with other files of importance. GRRRRRRR !!!

Sugguestions are welcome.

Charles

Hi Charles

This may be progress registry entries still pointing at an old server
Usually after an upgrade or after you have changed server names.

You will need to back up your registry and remove them manually.

Registry cleaners or unregocx commands do not always remove them
properly

Hope this helps

Gary
