How does Epicor calculate actual production times when an employee is simultaneously clocked into multiple jobs. For example, in a paint booth, we can clock into multiple jobs and paint those all at the same time.
When the operations are complete, how is that total time distributed amongst all the jobs? Is it an even split? Or are there parameters for weighted averages?
We’re trying to come up with a logic to update our paint standards but first need to know how the calculation takes place.
It depends on how you set up the job, but I’m assuming you are using time and quantity and not quantity only for the reporting.
Epicor does a weighted distribution for labor based on the estimates in the operation and the quantity completed. I haven’t tried to follow the calculations exactly to double check that, but I have done some rudimentary tests to verify that it’s not just splitting the time evenly among the jobs.
So if you have 2 different parts on 2 different jobs and you clock into both at the same time.
Part 1 = 1 hours estimate
Part 2 = 2 hours estimate
You clock in and our for a real time of 1 hour and report 1 of each, then the first job will get .33 hours and the second will get .66 hours.
