Closed Plant - thoughts for "hiding" in Part Entry/Maintenance

"Has anyone had to deal with a plant closure and been able to "hide" that plant within Vantage? If so, how did you handle it? (We are on 8.03.408, starting to look at the 9.5 upgrade.)"

Maybe this topic is settled for the original poster and I'm coming late to the party, but I've faced the same issue with some warehouses. What I did was edit the description of each one to begin with a "Z_", which put it at the bottom of the drop-down list. It's not quite the same as making it disappear entirely, but it does reduce the odds of folks getting in there by mistake, and offers a strong hint that there's something about that one to double check before using.

I would love to have an "inactive" checkbox at the plant level but there isn't one...

I removed the closed plant access from the user security, but they can still get at the closed plant in Part Maintenance. Since the closed plant comes first alphabetically, that plant opens by default (have had a couple accidental updates to parts in the closed plant) and the user's want to make it go away unless they specifically log into the closed plant. Interestingly enough, part tracker only shows plants that the user has authorization for. A call to Epicor support resulted in an SCR to fix part tracker because it should work like part maintenance is - urgh!

There are valid transactions in the closed plant so we can't delete it. Also, we only transferred parts with inventory to the open plant. The closed plant has some parts with highly complex MOMs that we still need to view and may need to transfer if there are reorders.

I can hide the closed plant in the grid using current session plant, but it still shows in the tree and can get confusing for users that navigate the tree. Any other thoughts?

Don't know if this would help you or not, but in every screen where we
could not "inactivate", which of course is the best alternative, we
always change the Description to "DO NOT USE", or "PLANT CLOSED, DO NOT
USE", usually some kind of warning.

It is not the best, but it helps.

Oh I just thought, maybe you could do a BPM on this?

Not sure how, but maybe?
