Hi Everyone,
Sharing some information on Cloud Management Portal options related to Managing Kinetic Instances → Managing Databases, which may be helpful for those working with multiple environments.
Refresh DB
Each Epicor Kinetic Cloud customer is provided with a Pilot environment. Based on business needs, additional testing environments (Third, Fourth, etc.) can also be provisioned. These environments act as staging environments where upgrades and changes can be tested without impacting the live Production environment.
Using the Refresh DB option, you can restore a database backup from one environment to another.
For example, you can copy the Production (live) database and restore it into Pilot for testing.
Steps to Refresh the DB:
-
Select the Kinetic instance from which you want to retrieve the database.
-
Select the date of the database backup.
-
Enter
confirmand execute the action.
Data Model Regen
Kinetic allows database customization by:
-
Adding User-Defined (UD) tables
-
Adding UD columns to existing tables
-
Creating new tables and columns
These extensions allow you to store custom data specific to your business processes.
After adding or modifying UD tables or columns, you must perform a Data Model Regeneration so the system recognizes the changes.
Additionally, certain BPM directives that reference these UD fields will not run correctly until the data model is regenerated.
