Is there any way to export a configurator designer form that is linked to order entry as an editable pdf or something? How can I send configurator to our company website for customers to place orders and it automatically update epicor (order, jobs, inventory, etc) when they hit submit?
There is the ‘Web Configurator’… I’ve not used/played with it yet, but it might not be a standalone thing and might require eCommerce site as well as setting up parts as ‘web saleable’.
If my configurator is set as Product Configurator, do I need to export the existing configurator and create a new configurator and set the new one to Epicor Web Configurator and then import? How does that work?
Yash you are doing everything!
You definitely got that right!
They introduced the option to put the configurator on ECC portal, but it is very limited from a UI perspective.
You can reach out to your CAM and maybe get a demo on the configurator for epicor commerce connect?
NOTE that this comment includes forward looking statements… so… see safe harbor disclaimer…
You may want to wait for the new Kinetic version of the product configurator before venturing down this path too far. Kinetic is designed for the web, and therefore is much more robust and speedier than our currently released web configurator option. There are “currently” THREE different flavors of a configurator:
- Epicor Web Configurator (EWC) - this must be written using JavaText
- a normal Epicor Client Configurator - this is written in C# - This is what we currently know an love.
- an EWA Client Configurator - this is simply a normal Epicor Client Configurator that is written in C# but “Deployed” to EWA. once deployed, it can be used in ECC on the Web, but is is limited to ECC, and there is not much you can do to make it prettier. OH… the DEPLOY step can take a while, because it converts all the C# code to JavaScript.
The new Epicor Design Studio version of the Kinetic Configurator should be much more web friendly and will not need to go through a “Deploy to EWA” step… SO… Coming Soon to Kinetic!
Does the 1st option allow you to make it “prettier”? @timshuwy

This question was meant for @timshuwy ^… Does the 1st option you listed in the new kinetic flavor allow us to customize the look?
yes, you can make it prettier BUT, if you change the configurator, you need to re-apply any changes you make. The prettier work is done to the JavaText. Once the configurator generates the base JavaText, you can modify as you wish, but if you need to add more fields to the configurator, you will need to regenerate and reapply your prettiness.
Not exactly sure what the Kinetic version will look like.
Okay, thanks @timshuwy !
