Connected Users OS Login

Too many times on a single workstation. The entire shop uses a
generic logon of "shop" so how do you restrict it by computer? I
don't know how to do that.

The workstation id is all the same cause they are running through a
citrix terminal server so I can't tell what workstation they are on.
I'm on Vantage 6.10.514. We just did the 514 patch. Before the
patch, when I looked in the Connected Users screen I could see the
Os Login of all people. It was sweet as we are using Terminal
Servers for our one plant, so I was able to see who actually logged
in for the shop users. They tend to login many, many times in a
day. By mistake of course.

Anyway, we put in the patch and now my OS Login is BLANK. I've
tried epicor but they can't find a problem. Thought I would check
here to see if anyone had a clue as to what is going on. I would
really like to see that OS login again so that I can tell how many
times the shop people logged in and get them off before we hit max
users. Done that a lot since we went live. Not fun.

Thanks to all who can help...

Shari
The only thing I know with the OS/Login name association is lost when you
activate/install ODBC on Vantage.

If the problem is too many login's from one user, restrict them to a single
login instance, then if they are already logged in, they can't login again.

The userid is shop. It's the plant floor that is logging in too
many times. I can't restrict that user id. But thanks for the info
on ODBC. We set it up the odbcuser connection the same day we
installed the patch.

When you say too many times, do you mean too many times on one workstation
or too many times (only one session of Vantage, but on many different
workstations)?

The problem I had was shop users running more than one copy of Vantage on a
single workstation, so I had to restrict it to running only one copy of
Vantage per computer.

With ODBC installed, yes the OS/Login association is gone, but the
workstation ID should still be available.

I setup a user and separate .mfg / .vtg for each scanning terminal. For
example we have a station by our saw machines with a .mfg file called
PlantFloor-Saw.mfg with a user & password as SAW / SAW and others like
Plantfloor-Bench.mfg bench / bench. This works really well. If one of
the stations crashes and locks a record, it does not take down all of
the stations. This way you could restrict your userid.
