Connecting ODBC to Access (V.5.1)

When you first choose to "Link" a table in Access to Vantage via ODBC, a
form with the list of tables to link appears. There is a small checkbox in
the lower right hand corner of the windows that says "Remember Password".
Put a check in that box and it will solve your problem.

If you need help feel free to contact me offlist. We do most of our
database and report work in Access 2000.

Subject: [Vantage] Connecting ODBC to Access (V.5.1)

We are exploring the uses of accessing Vantage 5.1 via ODBC. I
successfully connect with Vantage at the system level. Using MS
Access 2000 I can connect and view the table field names in the
design view. When I go to use those tables in a query I get the
message:
ODBC -- call failed
[Merant][ODBC Progress driver][Progress] Access denied(Authorization
failed)7512 (#-20228)
I've searched this site for a clue as well as across the web. I know
some of you folks have Access programs that get in and out of
Vantage. Please share your wisdom and hints. THANKS!!

This was a major issue for us when we went to 5.00. When you first setup an
Access file and you get external database, you are brought to a login screen
where you enter a passwork (sysprogress for us). Unfortunately, every time
you go into Access to run an Access program, you have to get external
database and login for the program to work. If you need further help,
please contact me off list and I can walk you through it
