Connection time limits

If it is a Progress error message (which is what it sounds like you are
describing), it is prompting you for a larger -n value (the default is 20).
The Vantage error message would claim that there are no more licenses
available. Only Vantage uses Vantage Licenses which you have 8 of. Both
Vantage and Report Builder use Progress Licenses. You can increase you
Progress licenses by adjusting the -n value in the startup.pf file. Try
setting the -n value to 20 (You'll need to stop and restart the Vantage
Database).

Subject: [Vantage] connection time limits

We currently have an 8 user license running on an NT 4.0 server, we are
frequently noticing that we get error messages about " no more rescources
are available to connect to the database..." If seven stystems/people are
connected and one or more are using reports generated from report
builder, we find that report builder also uses a concurrent licenses in
addition to the license connection already allocated to that particular
system for Vantage. what would anyone suggest which may limit the
connections of users which may be Idle for extended periods of time,
allowing the connected user limit to be decrease and maintained more
efficiently for those who are using vantage or report builder Vs. the
users which have just begun a vantage session and did not end their
session when they completed thier task?

We use the client Time out Utility that Mike Podlin sells for $100.

Works great, you can set it to shut users down after any number of minutes
of inactivity. You can also change the setting per user pc, if necessary.
