Consignments

We have material that is at two different warehouses as consignment
material. When the customer pulls it from the warehouse, we invoice them.

We have two warehouses and bins set up with the offsite names we chose.
Each of the parts we ship to these two other warehouses have been set up to
show our Finished Goods warehouse as the primary and then the two other
warehouses. What's nice is that you can always tell what inventory of each
part you have at which location.

When we make parts on a job we receive them to inventory in our Finished
Goods warehouse. When product is shipped to the customer, we make up a
Packing Slip outside of Vantage and the only thing that gets done in Vantage
is that the parts are Transferred from our Finished Goods warehouse to the
offsite warehouse. When we're ready to invoice, we prepare a "dummy"
packing slip and ship from inventory using the offsite warehouse name we
want to ship from.

Sincerely,
Judy H. : )

We have distributors and reps. When we sent a selection of items to a rep
to keep on hand and sell, we created a regular order and shipped out against
it. We also invoiced but made up terms called "consigned" so that as they
sell their product they order
more and we would then expect to receive payment against the prior
shipment(s). We hope it works 'cause we couldn't think of a better way.

Does anyone have consignments at distributors?
If so, how do you track them?
They are not Receivables, yet then are not inventory.
