Contract Review

The basic concept is below:

1) VBForm calls Progress code (RUNPROG Vantage Basic statement).
2) Progress code gets information from VBForm and current record (i.e.
order, invoice, etc.).
3) Either Progress does "something" or Progress calls another program to do
"something" with the information. This something can be the sending of
emails or almost anything you want.

Wow. Rick, this could be a real key for us in some other areas. Can you do
a two line overview on what a person needs to set up things like Email
Alerts from a VBForm? Do you need Vantage Basic, or Progress or what?

By using the VBForm to call external program, you can basically add the
same
global alert functionality anywhere in Vantage. By setting up your
checkboxes in the VBform, and some programming, emails can be sent,
spreadsheets can be updated, etc. It can even be automated by using the
OnExit function of the VBForm.

Thanks for the reply. Are you using VB forms or that piece of paper?
Also, you must have established a procedure in which those 4 people
know when there is a new contract to review? Wouldn't a global alert
be nice in this case?

Is anybody using Vantage as a method of electronically doing Contract
Review for fulfilly ISO/QS requirements? Quote Management has those
nice little check-off boxes-that even trigger global alerts (too bad
sales doesn't). Any suggestions???
Jay
We've come up with a contract review form that utilizes the checkoffs, etc.
Unfortunately our contract review goes through so many hands...at least 4
people signoff...that it is a very cumbersome process. It would be better
if we had a report that showed the status of these different checkoffs just
so nothing falls behind or gets lost.

We are afflicted still by people who need to hold paper in their hands.

We are using VB forms at the order entry level to add information that we
deemed necessary for the contract review process. From there we can print
a paper copy that includes all required data. But the printed form
becomes pointless as it travels from signoff to signoff. As we approve
electronically we must also approve on paper...redundant.

The global alerts would be very helpful...
