I need to convert our BAQ Reports in Crystal to SSRS reports so that we can migrate to the browser version of kinetic. I’m struggling with the steps and getting the right data source to use in MS Report Builder.
What tools do you prefer to use to do this if not report builder?
Ms. Debra: I have helped a number of Epicor Customers upgrade their Crystal Reports to SSRS.
I have heard of a payable service - however, the last i heard it only gets you 80% there and you need to finish on your own.
Crystal and SSRS are VERY different and although pretty much everything i could do in Crystal I can do in SSRS - it is NOT as easy task and there are some SSRS frustrations i.e. Headers and footers in SSRS are a nightmare.
It sounds like you are on the right track, the MS Report Builder is the correct tool to use.
Please remember that you have a whole library of existing Epicor SSRS reports. I used those to help me learn Report builder. Download a couple and open them in Report Builder to look at how Epicor is doing it.
Sadly, I cannot offer you an easy button - the learning curve is steep.
Hang in there, it can be done with a “little” patience
