Convert Word doc to pdf in ECM

I am almost positive that when we were testing in ECM, that we were able to email a Word Document as a .pdf; at the very least we were able to download a copy of the Word doc as a pdf. I’m trying to do that now and keep getting an error saying the file can’t be converted; of course there is no other detail on WHY it can’t be converted.

Outside of ECM, I’m able to open the Word doc and save as a pdf - so I know it’s not the file itself. Any help is appreciated or if I dreamed the whole thing I suppose it would be good to know that…

If the file is still in image processing, this may the reason that the file can’t be emailed. Send a screenshot.

If the image processing is not working, this may require a restart of the DQM service or the ECM client/EclipseAutomation service.

Hi Scott,

Here’s screenshot of email attempt…

and then with the error I get

Appears to be a limitation of ECM. Tried a cloud instance and it gave a similar error.

It seems odd that ECM would not allow such a basic functionality… especially when the prompts are there indicating that it can be done.

Office software may need to be on the ECM client server computer, just testing it out to see whether converts the word to a viewable file within ECM.

Well… now it’s working. I’m not sure EXACTLY what I did… I did Stop and Restart the Automation Service on the ECM Client and it seems that about 3 minutes after that the log shows Office conversion activity!
