Cool print utillity

Found a neat windows print utility "Fine Print" that might be of interest
to some of y'all. It can intercept print jobs before they get to the
printer. Then let you preview and reformat them before printing.

Check their site for more info: www.fineprint.com but some of the stuff
that looked useful included:
* Insert full page overlays, to simulate letter head or pre-printed forms.
* Print thumb nails to conserve paper
* Consolidate multiple print jobs into one (might be useful for folks that
email PDFs from Vantage)

There's a crippled evaluation available for free; think it's around $40 to buy.

Maybe if enough people asked, they could make it do the terms & conditions
on the back of the PO that was recently discussed here.

I have tried WinFax and ZetaFax to fax a quote directly from Vantage.
ZetaFax seems to do a better job with the Vantage Crystal quote form but
it's not perfect. The characters are very light and some of the line
spacing is not correct. Text prints outside the boxes instead of inside,
problems like that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mitchell,

We use a product called GeniFax from www.omtool.com <http://www.omtool.com>
. It works just great and is tied to Outlook. You just send email to a
fax number instead of an email address and/or send up a printer that does
it. If you want, I can fax you a sample dummy quote for you to see how it
works.

We have used Zetafax for serveral years for faxing Quotes, Invoices, POs,
and other forms without any problems. You might need to "adjust" the forms
a little in Crystal to make the spacing correct and we always had to adjust
the intensity of the Zetafax printer after it is installed to correct light
or dark areas. Ours is a 5 year old version though so you are probably
using a newer one that has been enhanced. I can try to answer any specific
questions you have concerning our Zetafax. We have never used Winfax.

Mitchell,
If you already have a fax program running, (we are using Faxserve). You can
use the Adobe Acrobat Distiller. I had Faxserve, so the servers could act
as fax machines. When we wanted to fax and email Vantage forms they just
didn't line up right. Others in this group also use Acrobat Distiller to
create a PDF file that you can email and fax.

We use GFI faxmaker, but used to use ZetaFax. It worked fine for us.
The difference was we used a crystal based report. I have been tring
to get Epicor to give you more options with there crystal viewer, but
they haven't yet. If they just used the standard viewer you could
fax, e-mail, and create pdfs with out a problem.

We use fax senior by http://www.omtool.com/
But if your customers/vendors have e-mails,
Win2PDF works great. You print your documents
to this print driver (anything you can view
on the screen, report builder reports, crystal
forms, etc) and the program creates a PDF document
that you send as an attachment. The folks here
just love it.
