Corrupt Customer record

Does this customer have alot of ship to's? There is an issued with the
number of ship to's. Can you get the data out another may to look at.
There are some characters that if used as the ship to id will lock up
the customer maintenance ? for one.

Jim

Subject: [Vantage] Corrupt Customer record

Hi,

I have ended up with a customer record that won't open.

I called Epicor & was told to try running conversion 5460, Reset DB
Sequence Controls.

The file would open in customer maintenance after that.
However, after trying to open with customer tracker it would fail and
become unuseable again.

Now I'm getting "dump and load" instructions from Epicor.
They say this is my only option now.

This is my first experience with record corruption like this.
Dump and load seems extreme.
Is there any other way to approach this?

OE 10.0B05.

Thanks,

Yes, that does sound extreme to me. Reminds me of HP desktop support
telling me the other day that a complete system recovery/restore was the
only way to fix it.

It's not the only way. It's the easiest way for them to resolve our
issue.

Can you not attach via ODBC to your database and try manually deleting
that customer record? I'm not sure of the age of this customer and how
many dependencies they may have established in your system, but I would
sure try that first. Play in a *test* environment with a clone of your
current problematic database. Use Access and ODBC to poke around and
delete records in your test environment first to learn of any
repercussions.

Check the dependant tables, too. The Vantage Data Dic says:
Customer Master. This is the primary file to the Shipto, and CustCnt
files.
DELETING - Not allowed if any invoices (InvcHead), Sales Orders
(OrderHed), records exist for the specific customer. Be sure to delete
all the ShipTo and CustCnt records associated with the specific
customer.

Is this a new customer by chance?
