Cost rollup 9.05

We had a similar costing problem jumping from 6.1 -> 9.05. Things to
look at:

Company Config -> Production -> Job -> "Issued Manufactured Materials"
-> Enable MFG Cost Elements.

There was a bug in version 9.05.603 related to that setting, fixed in
some more recent version (605 I think). We got a hot fix for this, I
can probably dig up the SCR if this is affecting you.

Epicor support also had us looking at posting rules (GL Transaction
Types) before that bug was identified, but don't remember the details
now.

Brian.

Subject: [Vantage] Cost rollup 9.05

Recently upgraded from version 6.1 to 9.05 and am doing a cost rollup.
I'm disappointed the way the system rolls up cost in 9.05

Previously you could see to total labour and material from the Cost
screen in the part tracker. Now it seems all sub-assemblies are rolled
into the costing as a Material cost which inflates the appearance of the
materials.

EG. Version 6.1 Part ABC - Material cost $20,000 Labour cost $15,000
Burden $7,000
Version 9.05 Part ABC - Material cost $38,000 Labour Cost - $2,800
Burden cost - $1,200

it only shows the Labour and Burden linked to the Main part and all
other labour and burden at lower levels are rolled into material cost

the only way to see a true cost is to use the BOM cost report.

Has any one experienced simular results?

I just found a table called Shopload. How and when does this table get populated?

I am trying to create a new shopload report and would like to verify my math by comparing it with the built in Shopload report. Does anybody know the logic behind the report such as how does it handle when we've worked more than the estimated hours, does it ingore ops that are complete, etc?

Thanks in advance

Randy Weber
Has anyone experienced a problem with the shopload report showing
incorrect values?

I have a case where the scheduler has adjusted job hours for an
operation on a number of occasions and when he reprints the shop load
report it still show the incorrect original value

Is there a process to update the shop load report?

Just to be sure, are you speaking of the shop load report located under production management\job management\reports? If that is the case, generate shop load will not be the tool that gets you what you are looking for. The information that populates that report comes from the resourcetimeused table. The process that writes to that table generally is the scheduling engine. The table is also updated based on quantities claimed complete through detail, possibly even job adjustment (though I'd have to verify the latter to be sure).

Mark, I am not looking at the screen right now but if you highlight the part and go to the actions menu I think you can look at the detail cost there
