Cost Set Entry Blank Title 52235

I agree with you!!!! It would help us to have a way to see what the
old cost was made up of....a way to look at the cost of the old BOM
and Routing that was rolled up to come up with the old std cost. The
BOM and routing can change on a part, but if it is not re-rolled the
current BOM and Routing is not going to be equal to the std cost.

We have a part that shows zero average, zero last and zero standard costs.

When I run a BOM Cost report, all the costs for the materials rolls up and gives up a breakdown of the cost.

BUT, when I use the Cost Set Entry to roll up my costs, I get zero.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks,

Jasper

When you create a cost set entry group and roll it up, the group edit list allows you to print out the parts that are affected by the roll up.

I know that the information for the NEW standards is on the CostPart table. What table is the OLD standards on?

Is it from the Part table? If it's from the part table, what happens if I print out an old group edit list?

Thanks,
Jasper

PartCost I believe.

Mark W.
PartCost is current costs.

Look at CostPart Table

When you update the std cost, the old std cost is overwritten and not
saved anywhere. I wish they would add another dimension for the date
on the costs. It would be a really nice tool for trending costs over
time and save some trees (see below). That and adding frozen costs as
well. I could go on and on...

Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend running and printing Print Cost Set
Group from the action menu BEFORE running the Post process. This
report shows the before and after and will be your only source of data
after posting. Select both mfg and purchased parts and Check the box
for "Changed Items Only".

And just so you know, if you make any changes to purchased parts,
these will get posted, like it or not. You can only filter on
manufactured parts when posting.

This is probably a pain but Transaction History will show the old costs if
there were Transaction for a Part with the old costs.

When you update the std cost, the old std cost is overwritten and not
saved anywhere. I wish they would add another dimension for the date
on the costs. It would be a really nice tool for trending costs over
time and save some trees (see below). That and adding frozen costs as
well. I could go on and on...

When the costs are posted there is an entry into the Part Transaction
History, regardless if there is quantity or other activity on the part.
The query would be to request transactions from PartTran where Type
equals ADJ-CST and Reference is equal to your reason code used in cost
adjustments, if you use reason codes, or not like Inventory Variance.
You have to add the reference criteria because when there are purchase
price variances, it creates a transaction with a type of ADJ-CST, and
Reference of Inventory Variance - Pack Slip xxxxx.

It would be nice if they just kept the cost history in its own table.
