If you have set up the part in the ABOM, use the 'Standard Cost Replace' function and Vantage will calculate a cost set based on the BOM and routing that you have set up in the method. Setup or Fixed costs will be spread across the BOM lot size. Run this in simulation mode first. I compare the rolled standard cost to my quoted cost. If it is close I will rerun the Standard COst Replace and remove simulation when I run it. If it doesn't agree, I run a costed BOM to find out which cost component is not agreeing with the quoted cost worksheet. This process will not only set up a standard cost set but validate the assumptions used in the quote.

The validation, however, will not work if you are not using the quote module.

I do not have an answer for you but I do have Tallon's email address so I

Hi Joy,

I'm trying to understand your question... Are you asking where you enter the cost for a part? Or are you asking what cost should be entered for a part?

If this is a top level part, you can do a BOM Costing report (ABOM/Reports) which will show you the cost of the part based on the BOM. This should match what Cost Set Entry would come up with.
