Paul,
Is either app customized? (Is it possible someone switched the labels?)
Have you verified it's not a refresh problem? Some customized apps can carry 'ghost' info from the last record to a new record on the form unless you force a refresh.

Paul,
We are on version 6 and you can track lots and well as cost them by lot, but
the two are exclusive of each other. The Part Tracker General Button should
show you exactly what is in the Part Master, so I am a little confused as to
how you can see two different things in the two screens. On the Part Master
File, the Costing Method can be chosen when a new part is added. I am not
sure if you set the default or if Vantage set the default, but you can
choose between Average, Last, Standard, and Lot; this shows as a radio
button in the master file, but it just lists the description of the one you
have chosen in the part tracker. Once there is any inventory, you cannot
change the Costing Method, unless you adjust your quantity to zero, change
the costing method (and change your cost), and then adjust your quantity
back to what it was; which is why it would be grayed out. If you choose to
Track Lots, that is independent of the Costing Method that you have chosen,
but it will show the check mark on both the part master and part tracker.
You said that ". where is the costing entered, we show average in the part
master and when we go to part tracker it is showing as lot....how? "
The costing method is entered in the part master file when you choose one of
the radio buttons, which should be reflected in the part tracker as a
description. If the two really are different then you need to call
support, because I would suspect that you have a glitch in your system.
Thanks,

In part master when you add a new part you are able to pick Average,
Standard, Last or Lot. If you have any inventory or demand on that part it
is grayed out and you cannot change the method of costing. We are on 6.1 and
I just looked at Part Master to verify.

There is a place to add a lot in 6.0 for a part, I just can't remember
where to do this....that is probably why you are seeing it in part
tracker.
Anyone out there on 6.0 or 6.1? It was the same in both versions for
adding lots.

First thing I checked for as well, but no the box is unchecked. It is my
understanding the part tracker, general button showed the part master
information in view only. Strange.

And you are version 6....if I remember correctly on the part master, is
there a box for lot tracking? See if that is checked.
It's been a while since I have been on 6.0....

Paul,
You can have any of your parts be any costing method...not recommended,
but you can do this. I'm sure there are some environments that need
this as well. The Company config is just what your parts default to
when a new part is entered in to the system.

Subject: [Vantage] Costing Method
Question, we are using vantage 6.0 and in our company configuration our
costing method is set up for average costing. Currently we have a part
that
in the part master it shows average costing for that part but in part
tracker the costing method is lot. We also have a part that has the
costing
method last. How is this possible? Thanks in advance
