Count Entry

I printed my tags and I found 100 or so parts that shouldn't be in the
"Raw Material" warehouse which I printed the tags for.

When I go to one of these parts, I open the "Warehouses" button to see
which warehouses they can be in, they are all in the "Finished Goods"
with "Raw Materials" also on the list. I cannot delete the "Raw
Materials" warehouse because transactions have already occured.

Now I am left with an over-inflated tags sheet because it wants to
find these parts in the Raw Materials warehouse.

Has anyone had this issue? I really need to get rid of a warehouse.

Void - tag is messed up

Count of 0 - means someone physically counted 0

You know, it was such a nightmare event for me....I don't
remember why we were voiding tags. I just remember being so
pissed off that Vantage "lied" to me on how voiding a tag
works.

A void tag will zero out any quantity on hand. At least that is what is will
do in vantage 6.0.

I have parts in a particular warehouse, that shouldn't be there. Yet,
at one time they were.

Because I cannot delete the warehouse from the part, these tags always
print.

I must either return with a 0 value or void the tag. Just wondering the
difference.

Although I have not tested this to be 100% certain, I think that you would
definitely want to enter the "0" so your "count date" for that part/whse
gets updated, because if you just void the tag, even though it does the same
thing to the count, I am not sure that the "count date" does get updated,
and you'd want that to happen to keep it from coming up all the time.

I am making my first real Count Entry posts today. I wanted to be sure
of a few things.

Manasa had said that it is the exact opposite of that in the help file.

I just need clarification if that is ok. :-)

1) If I void a tag, does it drop the amount in inv. To zero? Or does
it keep it at its current level?

2) If I return a tag at a zero value, I assume it drops the amount
in inventory to zero?

3) If I change a bin on a count entry from what it had as a default,
will that move the quantity into that bin? Or will it double the
inventory, leaving the amount in that default bin, and adding the count
into this new bin?

My opinion is:

Zero on a tag does just that, adjusts the on hand to zero.

Voiding the tag basically deletes the tag, without adjusting the on hand
qty. (for instance, the tag's lot number is obsolete, etc.)

We are using Vantage 6.0. When you void a tag it will adjust the quantity to
zero and post a variance. If you return the tag at zero yes, it will post
the amount at zero and post a variance. Changing the bin location on in
count entry will move the material to that new location, it will not double
the locations. Hope this helps.

I'm a novice at this but here's my question.

Our boss wanted to see what the requirements for raw materials purchases
would be if we considered only our actual sales backlog and not any sales
forecast nor any stocking conditions

Our approach was to create a copy of Vantage (6.00,529), delete the sales
forecast, set the safety stocks and minimum on hand quantities to zero and
to reprocess MRP.

I have to admit that I deleted the sales forecast by going directly into
the Forecast table (with Access) and deleting all the records as I did
partplant table with the safety stock and minimum on hand amounts.

Now the problem. When we run MRP (even in full Regen) the UNFIRM jobs
(those created thru MRP) still exceed our actual sales backlog and we end
up with finished goods inventory. In other words it looks like the MRP is
not deleting the UNFIRM jobs created before when we did have a forecast
loaded.

Naturally the help desk says that this is not the case. Does anyone have
any experience with this? Did I make a mistake by deleting the forecast
thru brute force? No great harm has been done because this is in a copy
of the live system but the boss is getting anxious for his answers.

Yes, true but I still think the tag that's voided is killed dead.
It is not considerd by Vantage when you generate tags in the future, as
would tags that have been merely zeroed out.

I have a part that is setup as a manufactured part. Sometimes we make that part and sometimes we will purchase it instead.

If I were to change the part to a purchased part that has a BOM, will MRP still generate suggestions to purchase it's raw material requirements?

For example, we have manufactured part number 123. It requires a raw casting, part number 123-C.

If I were to change part number 123 to a manufactured part but still left the BOM structure in place, will MRP generate a PO suggestion to purchase part number 123-C?

Any ideas?
