Count Tag Inventory BPM

Under the Actions/User Text pick "show informational message based on the designed template", then click on "Designed" that is in blue and put in a simple message. "Hi from update" is typically the highly sophisticated and detailed message I use :)

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to write a BPM four Count Tag under material management. Basically what I have done is add a few user defined fields (Number01, Number02, etc) to Count Tag so that if we have inventory for a particular part in different locations and whoever is doing the physical count can input their numbers into the fields as opposed to counting all of the inventory and putting their total in the CountTag.CountedQuanity field. I'm probably not writing the code correctly for the calculation but what I've written is this:

For EACH CountTag:

CountTag.CountedQuantity = Number01 + Number02 + Number03

END

I've never written a calculation for one of these before so I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going wrong but when I hit the "Validate" button, I get no errors it just does not calculate. Does anyone have any ideas?
Which method are you putting it on? Pre or Post?

I should clarify something.

It is pre-processing. The Condition I am using is as follows:

The ttCountTag.Number01 filed has changed from any to any

And the ttCountTag.Number02 filed has changed from any to any

And the ttCountTag.Number03 filed has changed from any to any

The action is

For EACH

ttCountTag

ttCountTag.CountedQty = ttCountTag.Number01 + ttCountTag.Number02 +
ttCountTag.Number03

END

The ttCountTag Number fields are the custom fields I have added. The
ttCountTag.CountedQty is the existing Vantage field. Hope this helps to
clarify.

What I have done to deal with Parts in multiple locations is create a Workflow in Service connect to input the counts. this way I can concatenate the tag string if there are multiple tags and calculate the total.

Basically what I have done is add a few user defined fields (Number01,
Number02, etc) to Count Tag so that if we have inventory for a
particular
part in different locations and whoever is doing the physical count can
input their numbers into the fields as opposed to counting all of the
inventory and putting their total in the CountTag.CountedQuanity field.
I'm
probably not writing the code correctly for the calculation but what
I've
written is this:

>
> I've never written a calculation for one of these before so I'm pretty
sure that's where I'm going wrong but when I hit the "Validate" button,
I
get no errors it just does not calculate. Does anyone have any ideas?

I may have missed it but which method are you working with?

What I usually do is just have the method popup up an informational message to make sure that the method is actually firing. It is amazing how many times I work with what I think is the right method and find out it isn't. Leave off any criteria, just have an action with the message. Once you have the message appearing, add the criteria and see if the message still appears. Then add the action you want.

The Method I'm using is CountTag.Update.

Having an informational message pop up is a really good idea. How did you
go about that?
